LSN Flyer

Messages:

  • LSN is a non-traditional non-profit. We are not a 501c3 because we don’t take money. Everything we do is free and through volunteers.
  • Our mission is to “grow the capability of people in need by enabling volunteers and non-profit professionals with life skills and mentoring solutions”.
  • Tony Aloise is the founder, a P&G retiree that has a passion for life skills and mentoring, especially Living with Purpose. LSN is his way of giving back. Tony writes a newsletter and blog and loves to meet people who have a desire to serve.
  • We have touched over 50 organizations and hundreds of people over the past year.

LSN Toolbox

Messages:

Life Skills:

  • Life skills are critical to everyone…from youth to retirees, parents and employees.
  • Examples of life skills include Money Management and Job & Career.  We have a particular focus on Purpose-related skills and resources. Knowing Yourself Deeply is a prerequisite to Purpose.

Volunteer Solutions:

  • We encourage individuals to live, work and serve to their purpose, passion and potential. That is the LNS Purpose statement.
  • We encourage Volunteer Leaders to use systemic tools such as best practices and documented work processes.  These tools were developed with local volunteer leaders.

Mentoring Solutions:

  • Our tools serve both the individual Mentor (e.g. Skills Tool, Mentor for Purpose workshops) and the Organization (e.g. Coaching Roadmaps, Best Practices).
  • The Life Skills Wiki is particularly useful to mentors and in the development of a life skills curriculum.

Organizational Capacity:

  • We use this part of the toolbox to engage organization leaders of mentoring programs, especially Executive Directors. We want the total organization to be successful.
  • Every organization’s Strategic Plan should have a section on Organization Capacity Strategy.

LSN Operating Model

Messages:

  • We increase the capability of local organizations through self-service use of the toolbox, group workshops and 1:1 coaching.

GCMLA Operating Model

Messages:

  • We initiated the Greater Cincinnati Mentor Leadership Alliance as a way to elevate all local social service-focused mentoring organizations. We do this by building a shareable toolbox and encouraging others to add to the toolbox.

GCMLA Roles

Messages:

  • We envision various roles, including: Subject Matter Guide and Lead Volunteer.
